Gary Stockdale

Gary Stockdale is an American musical composer and a two-time Daytime Emmy winner. He has composed music for television shows such as Sabrina, the Teenage Witch; They Came from Outer Space; To Tell the Truth; Comedy Central’s Last Laugh; Cowboy U; Hayley Wagner, Star!; A Home for the Holidays (CBS), and Showtime’s Penn & Teller: BULLSHIT!. He got his second Emmy nomination for that theme.[1][2][3] He recently wrote music for The Aristocrats, by Penn Jillette and Paul Provenza, now on DVD.

Fresh out of college, Gary met Oscar-winning music composer Henry Mancini and under his mentorship learned the craft of film music composition.

He began his film-music composing career working for the legendary director/producer Roger Corman, scoring Corman's first "art" film (entered in the 1989 Los Angeles Film Festival), Dance of the Damned. Around this time, he started working side-by-side with famed film and television composer Lalo Schifrin, arranging and composing cues for his various projects, including Sudden Impact, FX2, and Sam Peckinpah’s last film, The Osterman Weekend.

Since 1990, he’s written music for Penn & Teller. Leading the band on their variety series Penn & Teller's Sin City Spectacular, he received his first Emmy nomination for his work on that show. He recently scored NBC’s Penn & Teller: Off the Deep End.

As a performer and singer, Gary has appeared in NBC's Studio 60: Live on the Sunset Strip, and he sang on Neil Young's recent "Living With War" project, soon to be released on DVD. He has also contributed vocals to films such as The Matrix Revolutions, and television series such as Family Guy.

Gary is part of the long-running LA band The Jenerators along with Bill Mumy (child star of the TV’s Lost in Space, and The Twilight Zone) and Miguel Ferrer (Crossing Jordan).[4] Gary was an original member of the Brian Setzer Orchestra, and he appeared as a featured actor and vocal soloist in the cult classic musical TV series Cop/Rock.

Along with Spencer Green, Gary has written a new musical, BUKOWSICAL!, which opened to positive reviews in Los Angeles at the Sacred Fools Theater. BUKOWSICAL! then played the New York International Fringe Festival in August 2007 to sold-out crowds. The show won an award for "Outstanding Musical."

Gary is the recent recipient of a 2007 BMI Award for Music Composition for his work on "Penn & Teller: BULLSHIT".
